Constructed in 1853 by Judge Jonas Tebbets, the Headquarters House served at different times as both Union and Confederate army headquarters during the Civil War and is now home to the Washington County Historical Society. The house is located in downtown Fayetteville just blocks from the University of Arkansas. To this day a minie ball scar mars one of the doorways, serving as a reminder of the 1863 Battle of Fayetteville which was fought in the front yard.
